Santatelevision doubled video views thanks to its Youtube channel
Lapland’s Santa Claus has since the year 2000 its own Internet TV www.santatelevision.com. The channel is run by the company Joulupukki TV Oy (“Joulupukki” is Finnish and means “Santa Claus”) based in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland in Finland. During the autumn 2011 the channel was renewed and Joulupukki TV also opened a Santatelevision Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/Santatelevision. The first Christmas of the Santatelevision Youtube channel was a real success since almost 2 million videos was viewed in 2011.
Www.santatelevision.com , which was celebrating its twelfth Christmas. was visited during the year 2011 around 1 million times and its traffic increased about 10% compared to 2010. However thanks to the Youtube, number of viewed Santatelevision videos doubled during the year 2011.
Www.Santatelevision.com is likely to be the most popular travel related site of the Finnish Lapland.
According to Mr. Tommi Lappalainen, Joulupukki TV’s CEO of, Santatelevision will also during the year 2012 put the emphasis on Youtube contents. Lappalainen declares that the company is targeting 20 million Santatelevision Youtube views in 2012.
The most popular videos in Santatelevision are of course the videos related to the old white bearded man: the most popular Santa Claus related videos have had over 100 000 views in one year. Also the northern lights and Lapland’s tourism related videos have been popular in Santatelevision channel.
In 2011 Santatelevision offered videos in eight languages (English, Finnish, German, French, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.). The Russian language is foreseen for the Christmas 2012.
Santatelevision is particularly popular in Italy, France, Finland and Spain. Almost 25% of the visitors come from Italy, around 20% from France and around 15% from Finland. USA, UK and Spain have each around 10% of the audience. During the year 2011 Santatelevision’s popularity was increasing strongly in countries of South America (like Argentina and Brazil).
Santatelevision is also popular in Facebook: the different language versions of Santatelevision Facebook pages have totally more than 10 000 Facebook friends. Joulupukki TV Oy is firmly developing Santatelevision as a brand: for example Santatelevision is since the summer 2011 a Community Trademark (CTM).
