Kastelholm Castle in Sund in Åland, Finland
The Kastelholm Castle in Sund in Åland is one of only five surviving Finnish medieval fortresses. It was built on an island in the 14th century by Swedes and had a strategic importance in the Baltic Sea for centuries. Nowadays the castle can be reached easily by car and is a popular touristic attraction.
