Seiffen: Christmas Village
Seiffen offers a real Christmas in Germany. Seiffen's Christmas village is the official Christmas village in Germany. Seiffen is located in the south of Dresden, in the Ore Mountain area, in the German Erzgebirge Mountains, near the border of the Czech Republic. Many wooden candle pyramids, angels, nutcrackers, candlesticks, and toys related to Christmas are produced in Seiffen. Erzgebirge handicraft traditions, with Christmas themes, have become the most important source of income for the village. During the Christmas season, candles beautifully illuminate the streets of Seiffen, and the traditional wooden handicrafts are sold in the workshops.
Italy
Bari: Saint Nicholas celebrations
Saint Nicholas is considered the protector of the weak, the defenceless, the unjustly accused as well as of seafarers and more. However, St. Nicholas is best known in western countries as the Patron Saint of children. St. Nicholas (San Nicola) is also the patron of the city of Bari in Italy, where it is believed he is buried. The Basilica di San Nicola (Basilica of Saint Nicholas) holds the tomb of Saint Nicholas. The Basilica was founded in 1087 to receive the relics of this saint, which were brought from Myra in Lycia. The basilica is an important pilgrimage destination both for Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians from Eastern Europe. Naturally Saint Nicholas is celebrated in Bari in Italy on December 6th. However the biggest celebration of Saint Nicholas is called the Festa di San Nicola, and takes place from May 7th to 9th. In particular on May 8th the relics of the saint are carried on a boat on the sea in front of the city with a great number of boats following (Festa a mare).
Luxembourg
Luxembourg City Christmas market
The Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg is the second smallest country of the European Union. Its capital, the city of Luxembourg, offers all kinds of fun during the Christmas and winter seasons, such as the Saint Nicholas Parade, and the beautiful Christmas market at the heart of the city in the Place d'Armes. Madrid : Three kings parade
VIDEO: Three Kings parade / procession in Madrid - Christmas in Spain The Three Kings Parade, called Cabalgata, is held every year in Madrid in Spain on Jan. 5. There are about 20 beautiful floats, filled with children and adults in nice costumes, who throw candies. Most towns in Spain arrange colorful parades representing the arrival of the Reyes Magos (three kings) to town. In Spanish tradition on January 6, three of the Kings: Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar, representing Arabia, the Orient, and Africa, arrived on horse, camel and elephant, bringing respectively gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus.
Sweden
Stockholm: Christmas & Winter
Stockholm and Sweden certainly host the oldest and warmest Christmas traditions in Scandinavia. There are many Christmas markets on Stockholm’s many islands, with several in Gamla Stan. From here you can take the boat out to Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum. There is also a fabulous Christmas market in Skansen and various activities you can take part in, including traditional candle making. Also Sweden’s famous St Lucia’s day celebrations take place every year in December in Skansen in Stockholm.

The historical character of Saint Nicholas of Myra, also known as St. Nicholas or St. Nick, had a reputation for loving and protecting the children, and giving gifts. He is known as the model, or “ancestor” of Santa Claus / Father Christmas.
