The city of Veliky Ustyug in the Vologda Oblast region in Russia, is the home town of Ded Moroz, the Russian Father Frost.

In 1998, Ded Moroz settled in Veliky Ustyug, so his Votchina (wooden palace in the pine forest) and his city residences were built. Everybody can visit Ded Moroz any time throughout the year. November 18 is the birthday of Ded Moroz, so special celebrations take place.

The Finnish Santa Claus, Joulupukki, and Ded Moroz, the Russian Father Frost, are old friends, and meet each other regularly in the Finnish Lapland and in the Russian Vologda region.
