The Feared and Respected Northern Lights
Throughout generations, the people of the north have passed on the legend of how the Northern Lights, as we call them today, originally came into existence. A long time ago, a fox with a beautiful, red coat was running over the fells somewhere in the far away north. It was getting tired from running, because the enormous snowdrifts were causing the animal to sink.

The fox had to rest its tail because it was too weak to bravely hold it up anymore. Then, as the fox was hurrying over the fells, its tail hit the snow, forming thousands of little sparks that flew across the night sky bringing about a spectacle of colours and forms.
